Research
My research interests lie in the language history and development of the ancient and medieval Indo-European languages as well as the reconstruction of Proto-Indo-European.
Main research interests in IE studies:
- Proto-Indo-European
- Anatolian languages
- Old and Middle Iranian languages
Furthermore:
- Germanic languages
- Old Italic languages
- the Albanian language
Besides my interests in the field of Indo-European linguistics, my current main research is on dialectology. My research focus in the field centres around diachronic change as well as synchronic and diachronic variation, especially intra-village variation and language death and convergence phenomena. In a series of articles published in Niederdeutsches Korrespondenzblatt 2022-2024, I present and discuss some of my research results on endogene intra-village variation in the Low German village dialect of Lutterberg (Lower Saxony).
Research interests in dialectology:
- Low German dialects
- areal features and genetic relationship
- diachronic change
- intra-village variation
- endo- and exogene language change
