Research

My research interests lie in the language history and development of the ancient and medieval Indo-European languages as well as the reconstruction of Proto-Indo-European.

Main research interests in IE studies:

  • Proto-Indo-European
  • Anatolian languages
  • Old and Middle Iranian languages

Furthermore:

  • Germanic languages
  • Old Italic languages
  • the Albanian language

Besides my interests in the field of Indo-European linguistics, my current main research is on dialectology. My research focus in the field centres around diachronic change as well as synchronic and diachronic variation, especially intra-village variation and language death and convergence phenomena. In a series of articles published in Niederdeutsches Korrespondenzblatt 2022-2024, I present and discuss some of my research results on endogene intra-village variation in the Low German village dialect of Lutterberg (Lower Saxony).

Research interests in dialectology:

  • Low German dialects
  • areal features and genetic relationship
  • diachronic change
  • intra-village variation
  • endo- and exogene language change
